Second Baptist’s mission to South America (The Amazon Project) has a website now! It is amazonprojectperu.com, it has stories of what is going on, pictures of the people we are reaching out to, and a place for you to donate to this mission!
The dates have been set! On October 21st, Joey McDermott, Robert Wallace, Juan Gallegos, and myself ( Blake Parsley ), met to finalize the details of our trip to Peru in January. We will be leaving January 1st and returning to Little Rock on the 11th. I am already counting down the days.
This trip will serve a two-fold purpose. First, we will be working alongside one of the villages (Cabo Pentoja) we visited during our mission trip back in July. Cabo Pentoja has a strong desire to carry out the Great Commission. They are doing exactly that. The members from the church in Cabo have been traveling over ten hours to visit another village. While there, they share the gospel with the lost and disciple those already saved. They hope that someday they can organize a New Testament church in this village.
Secondly, we will be putting on a three day seminar. Many villages will come to recieve teaching through these classes. We will be studying through the book of Acts. Specifically, we will teach and discuss what biblical mission work looks like.
The total cost for the trip will be around $8,000. We ask that you would consider sponsoring a team member or give a special offering to help fund this trip.
